LISTEN!Have you ever had a conversation with someone where you had the answer they needed but they wouldn’t stop talking long enough to hear you? It’s so frustrating isn’t it? I’m sure that is how God feels about us many times! As we Raise the Bar on Prayer, Leadership and Service this is the observation I want to make from the life of Jesus. We need to make a habit of listening to God. Jesus did. Prayer was a regular and vital part of His life. Mark 1:35-37 says, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: "Everyone is looking for you!" Prayer was a priority for Jesus, even more important than pleasing His followers. If Jesus, who is God the Son, needed to get alone with His Heavenly Father don’t you think we need to? We all need quiet times to reflect, renew and recharge. We all need time to just get alone, be quiet, and listen to God. I can testify that if you don’t you will not be effective in using your God-given spiritual gift in your God-given ministry. You may be able to limp alone using your own ability and strength. But it will not last and your Christian walk will be dry and empty. As soon as trouble comes you want to give up. Have you seen the way the grass has sprung to life after the rain we had? This is a picture of your heart and ministry if you would spend time with God. The results will be out of this world! In your daily routine have you got room to listen to God? Do you hear Him? If not, find out why not. We are here to help you. Just ask. |
